The way we celebrate Thanksgiving is all about family. It’s an opportunity to get together with people you love and reflect on all the blessings you’ve received in life, and all the opportunities and potential you have for what’s to come.
But this time of year can be tough for some of us, because we don’t all have a traditional family. Or if we do, they might not give us the love and support we need. Or, this year especially, it might just not be possible to get together.
Some of my best memories are of holiday meals with the eclectic, rag-tag group of friends and loved ones that just happened to be able to show up that day. So in that spirit, I invited everyone to hang out virtually for a few hours this afternoon.
We had some of my family, some friends from school, and some of the Flip Fam show up. It was great to provide each other with some encouragement and good company, even though many of us are stuck at home with none of the usual, traditional activities.
This is part of the work toward open and honest communication. This is what the Flip Fam and Getting Comfortable Being Uncomfortable is all about. Life isn’t always unicorns and rainbows, but life is always about each other. The more we come together, the more we open up to each other, the better each of us—and all of us—will be.
Thank you! And have a happy thanksgiving!
